System One Mechanical Systems Design Engineer in Bellevue, Washington

System One is seeking a to contract with a highly motivated Mechanical Systems Design Engineer. This is a remote opportunity for 12 months with the possibility of extension or conversion. In this role, you will be focused on the integrated design of the reactor core assemblies and components.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a diverse design team across different locations to create design documentation for core assembly systems and sub-systems.

  • Apply engineering principles, methods, and tools to design core assemblies from requirements to final design.

  • Coordinate and review analyses, such as thermal, seismic, structural, heat transfer, etc., performed by others for the design.

  • Apply correct design codes, such as ASME, ANS, etc., and regulatory criteria and standards to the design.

  • Create and manage system design information packages, such as design basis documents, 3D models, system interface drawings, etc.

  • Establish and maintain system requirements and specification documents, such as Design Specifications for reactor core assemblies.

  • Evaluate and implement technology development programs for engineering solutions.

  • Generate and review design change packages for key systems and sub-systems, including calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering design specifications.

  • Support licensing activities, nuclear industry best practices, and project design reviews.

    Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university and 5+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.

  • Project Management Professional certification is highly desired.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing design of complex mechanical systems and multi-discipline integration between principal and partner organizations.

  • Previous experience with nuclear reactors and systems, high temperature pressure vessels, or similar system design is highly desired.

  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles, as well as knowledge of design control tools application on nuclear or similar complex industrial applications.

  • Functional knowledge of the ASME Sect III Code

  • Experience with SolidWorks

  • Experience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS.

  • Familiarity in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

  • Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.

  • Ability to work on simultaneous tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach.

  • Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
