Want to help us in this mission?The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development of new products from the concept phase through launch. Responsibilities will also include sustainment of Sea-Bird’s existing product portfolio addressing capability/feature enhancement and quality improvement. This position is part of the R&D Engineering group within Seabird and will be located in Bellevue, WA. At Sea-Bird, we strive to provide best-of-class sensors and systems for oceanographic research and environmental water quality monitoring.

The Engineering team plays an important role in bringing innovative ideas to the market through design, prototype build and validation.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

About the Role:

Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. Jobs that provide engineering technical support in this field should be assigned to this job family.

This role will be Onsite at our office in Bellevue, WA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

· Interact with other internal functions such as Project Management, Product Management, Science, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Compliance and Service.

· Create mechanical designs, detail drawings, and lead design reviews

· Meet manufacturability, compliance, and product robustness requirements through documentation, test, or analysis

· Build prototypes for validation including test plan creation & execution

· Put together build documentation for new products and train sustaining engineering.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred) 4+ yrs. experience (2+ yrs. for MSME) in electro-mechanical product design

• High proficiency with 3D parametric CAD software & vault data management (SolidWorks preferred)

• Experience in prototyping, testing, and evaluating mechanical designs including the ability to work with the operations team and suppliers to optimize for manufacturability

• Able to design for and select against multiple manufacturing methods, including precision machining, sheet metal design, die-casting, and injection molding

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• SolidWorks Vault Data Management & Finite Element Analysis using Simulation

• Additive Manufacturing processes

• Estimating design work and managing project results

Compensation details:

The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $100,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Bellevue, WA. This range may be modified in the future.
