Description and Qualifications

The Manager, Hospital Development has direct accountability for the management of day-to-day operations and oversees the implementation of strategies, policies, and processes that optimize organ and tissue donation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Management Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads assigned staff to plan, organize, and monitor the implementation of effective hospital development strategies that will improve donation outcomes.

  • Assists with the development of departmental and organizational strategy.

  • Is responsible for ensuring implementation of departmental strategic initiatives.

  • Role models accountability for achieving results.

  • Assists in the development and day-to-day management of departmental budget.

  • Monitors departmental Key Performance Indicators and develops plans to maintain or improve performance.

  • Ensures effective communication and coordination with team personnel, management, and senior leadership.

  • Develops and ensures consistent application and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

  • Manages ongoing performance feedback and personal development plans.

  • Successfully manages groups and projects (e.g. committees, workgroups, and staff teams).

  • Works in concert with Donation Development Director and other applicable departments to reduce risk and ensure quality processes are in place.

  • Identifies areas of opportunities for staff development or improvement and initiates action to address with a strong focus on staff retention.

  • Collaborates with Donation Development Director to identify and to ensure completion of annual training needs of Hospital Development staff.

  • Is responsible for effective on-boarding of direct reports in collaboration with the HD Training Program Manager.

  • Actively participates in on-going departmental audit preparation.

  • Maintains current knowledge of the donation and transplantation industry.

  • Actively participates in departmental continuous process improvement activities.

  • Collaborates with Organ Donation Services, Family Support, Tissue Donation Services & Communications Departments.

    Hospital Partner Responsibilities

  • Establishes strong working relationships with key hospital administrators, physicians, nurses, and other associated health care professionals.

  • Analyzes performance of regional accounts and works with staff to develop customized plans for assigned hospitals including short- and long-term objectives and action plans.

  • Serves as HD AOC as needed to hospitals and clinical staff during referrals and cases.

  • Maintains and assists in establishing contractual relationships with assigned hospitals for tissue recovery services.

  • Works with staff to assess relationship status with key hospital staff and professional partners and recommends strategy for growth to strengthen LCNW’s relationship within each hospital account.

    Sales & Marketing Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with staff and leadership to implement strategies for retention for all current hospital partners with LCNW tissue recovery agreements.

  • Assists in developing marketing/communications strategy and related tools, aimed at gaining additional market-segment share and increasing organ and tissue donation.

  • Collaborates on the RFP process including drafting, editing, and finalizing partner proposals.

  • Ensures consistent application and representation of LifeCenter brand and messaging among HD staff and activities.

    Professional Partner Responsibilities

  • Establishes a strong working relationship with key medical examiners, and other professional partners, as appropriate.

  • Participates in professional and community trade events, by exhibiting or speaking, as needed.

  • Collaborates with partner donation agencies, as needed, to improve overall donation outcomes.

    Internal Partner Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with internal departments to review process challenges, and work to implement process improvement efforts.

  • Serves as a resource to internal partners regarding hospital policies and procedures.

  • Provides on-call support during case activity on a regular basis.

  • Collaborates with Communications department to create and update professional educational materials.

  • Participates in the oversight of professional educational materials.

  • Leads organizational and departmental projects as assigned

    Supervision

  • This position directly supervises Hospital Development staff.

    Other Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as required by the needs of the company and the senior leadership team.

  • Participates in, and may lead, employee committees and events.

  • Complies with applicable laws, regulations, and LifeCenter policies and procedures.

  • This individual must demonstrate operating knowledge of computers with a demonstrable, intermediate level skill (at a minimum) with Outlook, Word, Excel, and other comparable software programs.

  • This position may require the ability to operate specialized equipment, such as audio-visual equipment.

    Physical Activities/Requirements

  • This position requires the supervision of employees that may be in any part of LifeCenter Northwest’s donor service area.

  • Travel is essential to this position; the employee must be prepared to travel by automobile and airplane.

  • This position requires the ability to effectively operate phones, computers, and other office equipment.

  • The individual must have the ability to communicate clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the phone.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Generally, working conditions do not require exposure to hazardous materials nor extremes in health and safety hazards. Work is normally performed in an office or hospital setting as well as other business environments.

  • This position is required to follow hospital immunization, health screening, and background check requirements. Immunizations and tests will be provided by LifeCenter as required.

  • The employee is required to move up to 15 pounds with or without assistance.

    Anticipated Weekly Time Commitment

    This position may require work outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, sometimes without advance notice.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university

  • Master’s degree preferred but not required

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in the health care industry is required. OPO experience is preferred.

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management position with proven leadership and supervisory skills are preferred.

  • Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile or the ability to arrive and depart from work and work-related functions at expected times.

Where a candidate’s compensation falls within this range is based on several bona fide factors such as experience, tenure, and other specialized knowledge.
