Fresh Consulting Hardware PMO Manager in Bellevue, Washington

The Hardware PMO Manager is a critical strategic and tactical role within the Fresh PMO. This critical

role is designed to contribute to our organizational strategic vision and actively provide operational

leadership in best practices across our team of talented technical project delivery professionals. The

Hardware PMO Manager is responsible for leading by example and providing active best practice-

based coaching, mentoring, organization guidance, and coordination to support Fresh Consulting’s goal

of delivery excellence in everything we do. 

This role encompasses providing direction, scalable/right-sized project and program planning,

coaching/mentoring, resource planning, standardization, and optimization to ensure that our hardware,

software, AI, and robotics projects and initiatives are delivered on time and within budget. The Hardware

PMO Manager actively monitors and guides technical delivery teams to ensure that all projects

administered by the PMO adhere to our organizational best practices and standard program and project

management approaches. They proactively manage change and promote continuous improvement

within the hardware PMO.

Position Overview:

The Hardware PMO Manager is responsible for the definition, maintenance, and evolution of the Fresh

PMO standards of technical project and program management and our objective of delivery excellence

in everything we do. This critical leadership role supports the successful delivery of Fresh’s technical

projects and programs through effective facilitation, monitoring, reporting, and remediations. This role is

designed for a technical servant leader and coach who can educate, guide, and mentor technical

program and project managers on the best use of project management disciplines and approaches that

are right-sized for the technical project's scope, risk, and complexity.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement suitable business transformation strategies to respond to internal and external drivers, challenge existing PMO practices, and identify new and better ways of working to accelerate Fresh PMO towards achieving its strategic outcomes and improving delivery excellence.

  • Participate in the framing, scoping, and support of technical Projects and Programs that may consist of a variety of innovative hardware, AI, robotics, and software project(s)/program(s).

  • Ensure the successful implementation of the Fresh PMO’s strategy, responsibilities, services, and deliverables. Define and embed project controls and governance in every project and program.

  • Provide and maintain a capacity planning and resource tracking service across our suite of Programs. Oversee project costs and ensure project and program finances are well managed.

  • Define and embed project controls and governance in every technical project and program.

  • Provide Project planning, Milestone management, Scope management, and Resource forecasting.

  • Proven track record of planning, executing, controlling, and closing technical projects and programs with the ability to manage a program of projects and their dependencies simultaneously.

  • The Hardware PMO Manager will interact with Engineers, Product Managers, TPM’s, and suppliers, across multiple development teams to define and deliver complex features and products.

  • Lead the effective and efficient delivery of large, complex hardware, AI, and robotics projects.

  • Drive engineering project execution, make technical tradeoffs, track, and report on status, and resolve blocking issues.

  • Responsible for establishing the Fresh PMO organization as a center of excellence in project delivery and organizational change. Leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring team members.

  • Partner with the PMO Director to establish and advance the Fresh PMO project methodology framework incorporating structures, standards, processes, templates, and actionable insights and reporting, which is agile and is right-sized for the size, complexity, and risks of the project/program.

  • Understand the needs of internal and external PMO stakeholders and contribute to their success through cooperative and cross-functional communication, practices, processes, and standards. 

  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.

  • Shape, deliver, and embed organizational development strategies and learnings to build a team culture that aligns with our business values to achieve sustained high-performance standards.

  • Champions technical project management disciplines and provides the processes, structures, and tools for individual project management and program management across the transformation.

  • Define and implement standardized non-technical processes, models, and techniques for project teams, generating consistency and scaling our customer-focused success team capabilities.

  • Track and report on project portfolio performance, providing a real-time, comprehensive, and prioritized view of all technical projects and programs.

  • Guide the management and mentoring of multiple technical project teams and scope changes while balancing budgets, quality, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Ensure the projects within a program are successfully executed on time, on budget, and in scope while achieving quality by actively managing scope, schedule, resources, and risks.

  • Serve as a translator between individuals and teams through a balance of technical acumen and superior communication skills.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

  • 9+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager or Technical Program Manager in a design, product development, hardware and/or consulting environment.

  • Experience managing the complete lifecycle of a project with project teams of 5 to 25 people.

  • Highly efficient in resource planning and resource optimization.

  • 7+ years of experience managing project teams of 8 to 15+ employees/contractors.

  • Professional certification, education from a PMI or equivalent accredited organization or demonstrated equivalent professional experience is required for this leadership role.

  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with medium and large-scale systems.

  • Experience establishing and leading teams through multi-disciplinary relationships, including product management and engineering to drive product impact.

  • Experience successfully running high visibility cross-team projects and programs (E2E).

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with diverse teams.
