Amazon Fulfillment Technology is seeking a talented and motivated Hardware Development Manager to head a team of cross functional engineers from concept to production for common sensing and compute technologies. Looking for leader to set a vision and lead the hardware development in the AI/ML space for Amazon Inbound. Must possess good communication skills, enjoy problem solving and collaborate closely across the company.

Key job responsibilities

• Owning the delivery of integrated electrical, mechanical, optic and compute products to market on time, in budget and at the targeted performance

• Scoping, managing, and delivering multiple technical projects in parallel from concept to production

• Developing and reporting performance metrics for the hardware engineering team to peers and executives

• Recruiting and developing great people; continually raises the bar

• Evaluating and identifying improvements to the overall design processes

• Maintaining high level of communications with cross-functional team, and partners

• Interfacing with engineering managers, product management, and/or program management to drive new product development programs from concept to production

About the team

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.

Inbound

AFT’s Inbound team delivers innovative solutions to automatically receive and process billions of units of inventory from Amazon’s vendors and third-party sellers worldwide, making the merchandise quickly available to Amazon customers.

Basic Qualifications

• BS / MS Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar field)

• 7+ years of experience in hardware design

• 3+ years of management experience

• Experience with industry standard CAD & FEA design tools, industry trends, sensors, and/or design for manufacturability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a design team

• Ability to manage a process driven development mentality while also balancing time to market

• Commitment to rigorous testing & validation practices

• Experience with technical project management

• Robotics and/or automation Experience

• Proven track record of developing products for large volume production

• Experience managing challenging assignments with accelerated schedules

• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

• Strong organizational and planning skills

• Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $234,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
