Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is Amazon's "Last Mile" delivery service, responsible for delivering packages (and smiles) to households/businesses across the planet. Our finance team closely partners to support this rapidly expanding business while building a portfolio of delivery stations, vans, and technology to deliver customers' packages on time - often next day, sometimes faster. We augment our traditional "deliver by van" with other models including Amazon Flex (gig economy drivers), Amazon Lockers, and more - all designed to deliver smiles to our customers. AMZL Finance seeks a Finance Manger to support our Volume and Capacity Planning team. As a Finance Manger on the AMZL team, you will oversee the volume and capacity planning finance team for AMZL short and medium term planning teams. This role will provide extensive cross-functional partnership opportunities with business and finance stakeholders across multiple geographies to provide timely analysis, insightful guidance, controller ship, and financial leadership to our volume and capacity planning organization as we grow our delivery business rapidly. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to lead, challenge, and innovate by building creative, socially responsible last mile logistics solutions through large-scale data driven decision making.

Success in this role requires you to partner with and influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, respectively audit and challenge business model assumptions, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. You will collaborate with executives, finance leaders, and functional leaders across multiple business units within Amazon. You bring best-in-class business partnership while advocating strong controller ship within your team. You are comfortable reviewing variance analysis deep dives, asking tough questions, and presenting to business owners during reviews. You over-index on building and developing trustworthy, solution-oriented teams who are empowered to identify, analyze, and help solve business problems. You exhibit sound judgment in prioritizing work for yourself and your team that maximizes results for key stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Deep dive attainment bridge and partner on identifying opportunities to increase attainment.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders across Operations and Finance team to drive continuous process improvements in financial and operational performance.

  • Expertise in collecting, analyzing and managing quantitative data and creating meaningful analyses to lead business improvement and cost reductions.

  • Partner on the Short term, Medium Term volume planning processes to advise on cost impact

  • Partner with North America Transportation on capacity ask and understanding of network drivers

  • Bridge volume weekly versus plan and isolate controllable drivers vs. non-controllable (upstream, topline)

  • Report on forecast accuracy/caps misses and the cost associated – work with S&OP and field finance to drive actions to improve

  • Calculate cost of buffers and advise on decisions and impact to P&L

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

  • 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
