Position Summary

 

The Dean of Science provides strategic instructional leadership that supports the goals and strategic plan of the Division and Bellevue College. The Dean is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating Science programs to address the educational needs of students and the community, while promoting student achievement through exceptional teaching, ensuring accessible programs, and cultivating transformative learning. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean plays a crucial role in the College's instructional team, responsible for implementing a shared vision and direction for academic and professional programs and instructional delivery.

 

The Dean directly supervises Division Faculty, Program Chairs, Program Directors, Director of Operations, Assistant Dean, Science Lab Manager, Science and Math Institute Director and indirectly supervises employees within the division. The Dean has full authority to develop and implement division protocols and best practices, serve on governance councils and advisory boards, and manage the division's financial and budgetary resources. The Dean ensures that all aspects of divisional instructional delivery are driven by the values of equity, inclusivity, teaching and learning excellence, community engagement, and student success. The Dean embodies the College's commitment to being a student-centered institution, advocating for social justice, demonstrating service leadership, fostering community, and upholding integrity.

 

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

 

Position Salary Range: $110,530/year - $165,795/year

 

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $124,346/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which means that you are not eligible for overtime pay.
