Job Description As an Electric Dispatcher, you will be joining a team of professionals that place Safety and Customer service at the core of their work. PSE Electric Operations prides itself on the ability to be agile while maintaining effective communication, high level of service, and productivity. You will be trained to work in a team environment that includes 24/7 emergency response to the operation and maintenance requirements of PSE's electric system. This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites. Job Responsibilities Evaluate trouble orders, assign and dispatch servicemen to respond to emergencies or investigate electric system and customer issues, consistent with Puget Sound Energy practices and applicable safety regulations. Create, modify and provide detailed updates to various orders in coordination with assigned field resources. Perform similar and incidental duties as required. This position requires skill in operation of required computer programs, radio system, multi-line telephone, and ability to work with other dispatchers as a team to support emergency operations. Requires an irregular work schedule and will require overtime hours. Minimum Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must have the ability to interact and communicate effectively with co-workers, Service Providers, Contractors, other utilities as well as City, County and State agencies. Once trained must maintain working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity as pertains to utility systems as well as knowledge of wiring codes and practices. Once trained must maintain knowledge of the overhead and underground systems in the area assigned. Become familiar with line material and the Company line construction and maintenance Standard Practices and accounting system as applied to overhead and underground system work, and ability to maintain necessary records and make required reports. Additional Information Job Conditions and Physical Effort: The duties and responsibilities are performed in an office environment. The position generally involves continuous sitting, occasional standing and walking, light lifting, frequent bending and reaching and keyboard and telephone operation.
