Our client is seeking a highly motivated Configuration Manager to support the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) program and associated projects, including the Delta project. The Delta program is a critical step in the testing and development of the first reactor to be fueled by molten chloride salts. Your role will include interfacing with a team of scientists and engineers internally and externally. The Configuration Manager reports to the MCRE Lead Systems Engineer and is assigned to support the Delta, MCRE, and CBV projects. The Configuration Manager will report to the Delta Project Manager. The Configuration Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, updating, and implementing configuration items, controlling configuration baselines, and conducting configuration related audits. The Configuration Manager will also be responsible for developing and maintaining our client's Configuration Management processes and procedures, as well as mentoring and training the Project Teams on those processes and procedures.

Additional tasks may include input into the development of program governance documents (Program Management Plan, Systems Engineering Plan, etc.), purchasing credit card management for purchases of items less than $1K, and interfacing with support groups to understand the status of their deliverables to the project.

Collaboration is integral to this role, as the candidate will interface with a dynamic, cross-functional, multi-cultural, and interdisciplinary team. Effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration are essential, with a focus on maintaining composure to ensure a program where the team is productive and to facilitate timely decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design document management and configuration control

  • Mentor and train the MCFR organization on Configuration Management concepts, procedures, and work instructions

  • Configure, update, and manage project Atlassian Confluence pages and Jira database

  • Review documents for compliance to configuration management processes

  • Coordinate document transmission among different project partners

  • Review configuration management issues, drives resolution, and implement any required changes to the process

  • Be responsible for the DELTA Configuration Management Plan

  • Lead Change Control Board Meetings and enact changes as directed

  • Perform credit card purchases for the program that provide essential swift procurement for the program

  • Be responsible for direct communication and relationships with the following Support Orgs: Finance, ESH&Q, Legal, and Procurement

  • Assist in the training, developing, and mentoring of employees.

  • Assist with forms from partner companies to bring on new team members.

    Key Qualifications and Skills

  • B.S. degree in a technical field or at least 3 years of configuration management experience in a technical or medical industry

  • Experience with Atlassian Confluence and Jira

  • Experience with process improvement. Ability to identify needed changes to processes and activities to implement continuous improvement solutions

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week

  • Experience in documenting configuration management processes and procedures

  • High degree of trust and integrity

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills. Capable of providing feedback in a constructive manner

  • Strong interpersonal abilities to support team philosophy and strategy

  • Ability to adapt-to and rapidly learn new software and processes

  • Demonstrated affinity for understanding key objective and intent and then working with stakeholders and software tools to improve a process or system to make it more efficient

  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications
