T&T Supermarket US, Inc. Assistant Department Head - Meat Department in Bellevue, Washington
Company Introduction
T&T Supermarkets is marking over 30 years as Canada's favorite Asian grocery store and recently announced the first store location in the United States. Our growth into the US offers great opportunities within our first US flagship store, set to open in 2024 in Bellevue, Washington in the Marketplace at Factoria, spanning 76,000 sq.ft. and will stand as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.
We have additional plans for growth and will also be establishing a regional office in the greater Los Angeles area to grow T&T Supermarket's vendor base with American food suppliers.
The Role
Reporting to the Department Head, the Assistant Department Head provides hands on supports to the Department Head in the department's daily operation and to ensure that it is functioning under good conditions.
Major Responsibilities
You Will:
- Assist to manage department performance including managing merchandise, placing orders, planning and executing promotion activities to achieve departmental goals
- Assist to manage and supervise staff performance, provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance and supervision to department staff
- Promote teamwork and create an inclusive working environment
- Oversee product quality, freshness and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
- Conduct quality control during receiving, manage inventory in both the display and walk-in coolers (if applicable)
- Maximize customers' satisfaction
- Lead by example by performing all hands on duties
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior
You Should Have:
- Possess 3 years and/or above relevant experience, with at least 1 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Possess some knowledge in controlling profit and loss, interpreting data and market information
- Process knowledge and skills of merchandise management and implementation
- Have a good understanding of tools & equipment relevant to the job
- Possess knowledge in workplace health & safety
- Possess basic to good computer skills in MS Office
- Possess strong verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to communicate with Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin) is an asset
- Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays
