Commander, Navy Installations Supervisory Rec Specialist (Fitness Manager) in Bangor, Washington

Summary Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); Naval Base Kitsap - Bangor. Responsibilities Programs include DoD Fit Standard compliance, Physical Readiness programming, Organized Fitness Programming, equipment procurement, Sports, Fitness, Aquatics, and inventory control oversight Sets standards, Provides vision and serves as a model for fitness programs Navy-wide Incumbent supervises Recreation Specialists (Fitness/Trainers) and Recreation Assistant college interns (when on staff) and volunteers Responsibilities include training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating all employees within the fitness department Incumbent will conduct interviews and recommend selection of all new hires within the fitness department, initiate appropriate disciplinary action, hear and resolve employee complaints Incumbent be able to set priorities, develop, execute and evaluate a comprehensive fitness program annual calendar and establish schedules for work completion Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, or Fitness or Nutrition Sciences is desirable or three (3) years' experience in a fitness facility Must possess a current fitness certification from an accredited certifying health and fitness organization, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) and first aid certifications or be able to obtain within 60 days of being appointed to the position Certified as a Command Fitness Leader and experience planning and programming fitness activities. Must be proficient with computer technology and use of basic software such as Microsoft Office, and be willing to learn and operate other software i.e. timekeeping/accounting/POS system/RECTRAC/Inventory control system and others as needed Knowledge and experience with general business principles for financial planning/reporting and an understanding of the Department of Navy process and methods for Non-appropriated and Appropriated funds preferred Experience executing and providing input to an operational budget Ability to demonstrate both verbally and in writing the preparation of reports, written controls, program justification, program evaluations, and ability to communicate in front of a large group of people Education Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or related field preferred Additional Information Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within 30 days of employment is required.
