Commander, Navy Installations SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in Bangor, Washington

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA. Responsibilities You will lead a crew of three or more firefighters assigned to staff a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or rescue vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations. You will assess a junior firefighter or employee work performance to determine if performance objectives are being met. You will complete and conduct performance appraisals and assign, direct, review and evaluate subordinate work of 3 or more personnel of grades up to GS-08. You will conduct academic classes in hydraulics, chemistry of fire, hazardous materials, radiation hazards, firefighting tactics and strategy on structures, aircraft and shipboard fires. You will manage, progress of work, resolve informal complaints and track performance, progress and training needs. You will determine the potential harm of hazardous material to people and the environment. You will administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient. You will provide supervisory oversight to multi-company and remote stations Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; 2) Operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques; 3) Providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; 4) Applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires; and 5) Leading a crew of firefighters (i.e. directing drills, assigning work, etc.) NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for this position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-09: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HazMat Awareness, Operations, Technician, and Incident Commander (under NFPA standards adopted by DOD), Driver Operator Pumper, and possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro-Board to meet the requirements. Shall be required to participate on Hazardous Materials teams. Maintains current National Registry EMT certification. Assumes duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Battalion Chief.
