Commander, Navy Installations SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in Bangor, Washington
Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA. Responsibilities You will analyze local conditions and fire prevention or protection programs to verify a fire department meets operational conditions. You will administer training, orientation, indoctrination, and education programs for fire safety and awareness. You will lead a crew of three or more firefighters assigned to staff a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or rescue vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations. You will evaluate the effectiveness of a hazardous material response. You will monitor a fire department's workload to ensure goals are met. You will provide technical guidance; identify training needs; interview and select candidates for vacancies; recommend promotions; approve leave; recommend awards and resolve disciplinary issues. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; 2) Operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques; 3) Providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; 4) Applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires; and 5) Leading a crew of firefighters (i.e. directing drills, assigning work, etc. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HazMat Awareness, Operations, Technician, and Incident Commander (under NFPA standards adopted by DOD), Driver Operator Pumper, and possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
