Don Small and Sons Staff Accountant in Auburn, Washington

Small & Sons Oil Dist. Co. has been doing business in Auburn, WA for over 60 years. Our company has grown into a corporation focused on people, relationships, flexibility, and diversity. Our family of brands and services has expanded from fuel and oil distribution to on-site fleet fueling systems, commercial truck and part sales, heavy/medium duty truck maintenance and repair as well as our Small Stop convenience stores providing fuel and food to customers throughout Washington and Oregon. As our company continues to grow we are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller and will be responsible for assisting with monthly financial accounting activities. This is an on-site position; we do not offer a remote option at this time Job responsibilities:

  • Assist in the month end and year end closing processes
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliation
  • Responsible for preparing assigned journal entries
  • Assist with Convenience Store accounting
  • Assist with preparation for annual CPA reviewed financial statements
  • Assist with financial statements and management reporting
  • Research and post account corrections in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Support the accounts payable process and timely payment to vendors
  • Support the accounts receivable process and timely payment collections from customers
  • Review current procedures, recommend process improvement changes, and drive process improvement projects to completion

Qualifications

  • 1+ years' experience in accounting or related field
  • High degree of professionalism with the ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Detail-oriented, exhibiting strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of relevant software
  • Experience with Sage 100 a plus
  • Professional, positive attitude with ability to work independently and as a team

Education

  • Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance, or related field; or professional certification
  • Bachelors Degree preferred

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday - Friday

Salary

  • $49,000 - $58,000 per year to start
