The Warehouse and Distribution Center job family manages the storage, transport and distribution of equipment, materials and products sold and produced by the organization. General areas of responsibility include receiving supplier shipments; picking customer orders; shipping, transportation and delivery of materials and customer orders; and inventory organization, management and control. Positions in the pipe yard are responsible for the efficient use of the organization's storage and distribution facilities.


Sets day-to-day objectives and delivers job responsibilities that impact a wider operational area that is linked to own job. Work consists of tasks that are typically not routine, works independently and may be required to apply discretion outside established operational boundaries and procedures.


Problems and issues faced are unclear, and may need some analysis to understand. Makes minor adjustments to work tasks to solve problems that may not be obvious in existing work processes and systems. However, may have references and/or standard procedures to solve these problems (e.g., operating manuals, ability to discuss in teams, or escalate issues to supervisor).


Accurately picks customer products ordered.

Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment in a safe manner.

Accurately performs cycle counts, thoroughly inspects orders, and unloads trucks with fork lift.

Effectively puts items away and receive them in WMS.

Reorganizes and reconfigures yard.

Represents the organization to customers, associates and leadership as needed.

Accurately remove and replace worn components.

Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment in a safe manner.

Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).

Select pipe sizes, types, or related materials, such as supports, hangers, or hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.

Effectively communicate with associates and display teamwork in completing task assignments.

Performs all work in accordance with established safety standards and adheres to all safety policies, rules, regulations and procedures.

Participates in associate meetings and communicates any concerns to management.


Adhering to all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.

Performing other duties or functions as requested by management.



Supports enterprise business and sales objectives through the effective and efficient performance of job responsibilities.


Has no budget setting or budgetary authority but may act as part of a team with responsibility for achieving objectives within an established budget.



One to two years of pipe yard and WMS experience is preferred. Applies broad knowledge of own job or basic knowledge across multiple areas.


Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally.

Ability to efficiently operate computers, tablets and mobile devices.

Ability to effectively utilize FEI's inventory and logistics system (Trilogie).

Ability to effectively utilize standard hand tools (hammer, pliers, screwdriver, etc.).

Ability to effectively operate packing and packaging equipment.

Ability to effectively operate motorized and/or manual lifting devices.

Certification in applicable motorized equipment required (i.e. Forklift, Reach Truck, Pallet Jack, Picker, etc.).


Requires working indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions.

Requires exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings.

Requires giving and/or receiving verbal communication.

Requires giving and/or receiving written communication.

Requires walking, bending, and/or squatting.

Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.

Constantly requires carrying objects that are up to 50 lbs by hand.

Constantly requires carrying objects that are 50 lbs or more using equipment.

Occasionally requires carrying objects that are 50 lbs or more by hand.



Role is classified as Non-Exempt and will receive compensation for hours worked in excess of relevant State and Federal standards.


Under normal circumstances it is expected that the core duties and responsibilities can be completed in scheduled workweek by a fully qualified associate. Attendance on a regular, consistent basis is mandatory including arriving at the time scheduled by your supervisor daily.
