Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Auburn, Washington

Description

The Accounts Payable Clerk is primarily responsible for processing invoices and maintaining the accounts payable records for our organization. Their duties include matching and batching codes, resolving A/P issues, processing expense reports, updating, and reconciling sub-ledger to G/L and processing checks. A proficient Accounts Payable Clerk must exhibit excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and a robust knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures

  • Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts payable data

  • Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted

  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions

  • Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients

  • Verify the accuracy of A/P batches, prepare and distribute payment, and handle A/P invoice resolution

  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports

  • Assist with month-end closing

  • Provide supporting documentation for audits

  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational information

    Requirements

  • Proven working experience as accounts payable clerk

  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Experience with data entry and general accounting procedures

  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and familiarity with relevant accounting software

  • Ability to handle a high volume of data and deadlines

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
