This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for the design, assembly and development of Rocket Engine components as part of the Casting operation, located at 18410 63rd Ave NE | Arlington, WA 98223. Your expertise will also drive improvements for rocket engine component's design, maintenance, and refurbishment. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. As an integral member of the team, you will support DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test and accelerate the pace of rocket engine development. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable human spaceflight. Special Mentions: Relocation provided Work schedule may vary and depend on hardware and production schedules Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage an engineering and manufacturing team that includes new product design, production support, industrial engineering, and manufacturing. Balance priorities of production, product/quality improvements, new product development Train, educate and grow team members on casting processes Drive design improvements focused on quality, rate and producibility Work with production to achieve deliverable targets while reducing work-scope and driving cost out of the product Engage with suppliers as needed to assure cost, quality, delivery and industry leading materials and processes are used Support the Site Leader define and explain required capital to meet rate Drive tooling design & priorities to improve safety, consistency, and throughput in the factory Support the site to achieve AS9100 certification through procedure composition and operator training Safely work with hazardous systems, chemicals, and materials using the proper PPE Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule Support DFMEA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test Support the development of manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing process: receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment Identify non-conformances and escapes, support and deploy corrective actions Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process Occasional company truck trips to local vendors (no-CDL required) Other responsibilities as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering 5+ years process development experience 3+ years specifying, ordering, and commissioning process equipment, inclusive of CAPEX justification 5+ years leading engineering teams 10+ years direct investment casting experience AS9100 understand and experience Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
