Himalayan Pet Supply is looking for an energetic, passionate individual to serve as its Food Innovation Manager.   

Starting with a creation by two brothers in 2003, Himalayan created a new category in the pet industry, thus changing the dog chew class significantly. By 2016, we became a leader in the industry as we expanded out into other pet categories, transforming our company from a single product-oriented business to a pet supply company.

This individual will help drive the Company’s new product pipeline, from ideation through commercialization, for a leading company in the better-for-your-pet treat space.   This individual helps the Company identify exciting and promising market trends, leads cross-functional teams through the stage-gate process, and help execute on new products and business opportunities. The Food Innovation Manager will help the Company navigate the complexities of sales demands, manufacturing, packaging and supply chain logistics to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to the following:

  • Oversees review of new product concepts and decision-making process required for new product introduction and roll out

  • Manages  project structure for stakeholders including timelines, project plans, tasks, team responsibilities and status reporting

  • Plans and organizes research and development activities required throughout innovation cycle

  • Manages product lifecycle, including evaluation of non-productive products

  • Collaborates with Marketing on identifying trends and customer needs to be addressed by new product introductions

  • Works with Sales and Finance to develop demand and profitability forecasts

  • Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures they are on time and within budget

  • Liaise with co-manufacturing partners throughout innovation and manufacturing process

  • Transfers new technologies, products, and manufacturing processes into and out of the company

  • Assists Manufacturing in researching and evaluating materials, assemblies, processes, and equipment

  • Collaborates closely with other members of the QA and R&D team

  • Works as a cross-functional rockstar that drives consistent results across the organization

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • A passion for pets, and for creating awesome, innovative products

  • A world-class communicator:   excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A love for organization:   hands-on experience as a project manager, complete with mastery of available toolsets

  • A creative mind that is always curious about building something new or making something better

  • All basic software skills (e.g., Microsoft Suite), along with project management software experience

  • Understanding of product technology, manufacturing processes, and design principles

  • Analytical skills required for market data, understanding customer needs, and identifying competitive landscapes

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability

  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance experience is a plus

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, Marketing, Project Management, Food Science or related field required

  • 2-4 years experience, preferred in a manufacturing environment or with direct responsibility for product innovation

  • CPG experience a plus

    Job Type: Full-time (non remote)

*Please note that this role in not remote. The right candidate will either be local to the Greater Seattle area or will be wiling to relocate
