Position Summary:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP is looking for a full-time Supply Chain Inventory Controller. This position will report to the Inventory Control Manager.

The Inventory Controller will be responsible for supporting inventory control processes, including maintaining proper stocking levels, performing robust inventory reviews, optimizing inventory, executing anaylsis and reports, plus providing and capturing value for the organization and Company. The objective of this position will be to develop and manage inventory control strategies that support organizational Run the Business goals. The qualified candidate will understand Marathon’s material management program and the functional and strategic roles of inventory control activities utilized by the department.

This position may occasionally provide backup support to the Supply Chain Operations - Materials Management Master Data team, Warehouse Leaders, and other members of the Supply Chain Operations - Inventory Control team. Candidates must also possess the skills necessary to create/update material master records and have a foundation of warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and replenish MRO inventory at multiple Company locations

  • Convert planned orders to purchase requisitions for sourcing

  • Schedule transfers from same plant to fulfill requirements

  • Schedule transfers from other plants to fulfill requirements

  • Convert repairable items for in-house repair or third-party repair

  • Review and convert Turnaround (TAR) and Project demand requirements at multiple Company locations

  • Convert to purchase requisitions for sourcing

  • Schedule transfers from same plant to fulfill requirements

  • Schedule transfers from other plants to fulfill requirements

  • Support Corporate Spares program

  • Show the ability and experience to accurately integrate inventories across multiple locations by maintaining a “one warehouse” mindset

  • Perform robust inventory reviews

  • Stockouts and items at risk of stockouts

  • Inventory Optimization

  • ABC classifications

  • Forecasting demand based on planned activities or seasonality

  • Supplier stocking programs such as VMI and Consignment opportunities

  • Optimizing warehouse layouts

  • Inactive Equipment Reviews

  • Unfulfilled or canceled work order reservations and affected inventories

  • Surplus, obsolete and overstock materials management

  • Participate, identify, and lead inventory management continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing inventory

  • Provide support for Company audits as needed

  • Complete Supply Chain compliance control review assessments

  • Report on value creation (benefit captures)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree Required. Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management preferred.

  • Experience Required: Four (4) to Eight (8) or more years of experience in Inventory Management, Materials Management, or other related Supply Chain discipline.

  • Recommended Proficiencies: SAP, Advanced Excel, APICS/ISM coursework related to inventory management and warehousing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Professional Level 1 (P1)• Bachelor’s degree in related field.• Entry level experience in experience in Inventory Management, Materials Management, or other related Supply Chain discipline.Professional Level 2 (P2)• Bachelor’s degree in related field.• 1 or more years’ experience in Inventory Management, Materials Management, or other related Supply Chain discipline.Professional Level 3 (P3)• Bachelor’s degree in related field.• 4 or more years’ experience in Inventory Management, Materials Management, or other related Supply Chain discipline.Professional Level 4 (P4)• Bachelor’s degree in related field.• 8 or more years’ experience in Inventory Management, Materials Management, or other related Supply Chain discipline.
