Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The maintenance technician is responsible for performing duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment according to established procedures in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs manufacturing equipment, including motor controls, DC/AC drives and controls, frying equipment, temperature instrumentation, burner systems and controls, packaging machines, electronic scales, and programmable logic controllers.

  • Performs mechanical skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and machine repairs.

  • Coordinates and completes installation and wiring of manufacturing equipment such as pumps, fans, blowers, and relay panels.

  • Prepares, coordinates, and implements preventative maintenance.

  • Detects faulty operations, defective materials, and documents and reports any unusual findings to the proper supervision.

  • Responsible for complying with all GMP and safety regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical troubleshooting

  • Electrical troubleshooting

  • PLC troubleshooting

  • Ability to read and use an ohmmeter, ammeter, voltmeter, and multimeter

  • Basic computer skills

  • Comfortable with voltages ranging from 24-480

  • Capable of reading schematics

  • Ability to lift objects up to 100 lbs, walk/stand for the majority of the work shift, and work at heights up to 30 feet

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance tasks such as greasing, lubricating, and changing bearings

  • Minimum of three years of experience in electrical, mechanical, and electronic applications

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • PLC programming

  • Welding and fabrication experience

  • Experience with VFD drives

  • Knowledge of sensors and photo eyes

Work Environment

This position requires working the 3rd shift from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am, with initial training on day shifts and then graduating to night shifts. The facility can become very warm during the summer and involves working around machinery and production products such as chips and popcorn. The facility and machinery are cleaned every Friday, though the environment can be dirty at times due to chips and grease. Safety gear, including Hi-Vis vests, hand protection, nitrile gloves, PVC gloves, safety glasses, and welding shields, is required. General cleanliness and hygiene practices must be maintained, including frequent handwashing and wearing clean, appropriate clothing without loose-fitting items.
