Kelly Services CNC Machinist in Vancouver, Washington

Primary Function:

Provide programming and machining expertise in support of the Engineering Department and client requests. Program, set up and operate machinery for the fabrication of parts.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Configure tools and ensure efficient production.

  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data in order to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.

  • Set up and operate CNC equipment.

  • Monitor output and proper operation of mechanical equipment. Make mechanical and/or offset adjustments to ensure - parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements.

  • Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work.

  • Read Instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts being machined within a .001 tolerance.

  • Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.

  • Carry out other duties reasonable within capability as required by the Machine Shop Supervisor.

  • Swing Shift : Start between 3pm and 4pm, and work (4) Ten-hour Shifts (M – TH), or (5) Eight-hour Shifts (M – F).

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • High School or GED Diploma required ; Associates Degree or Certification in related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience operating CNC machines and manual machine.

  • Must understand G-code and M-code programming.

  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting CNC machines.

  • Able to demonstrate good manufacturing practices and select tooling and machining resources for manufacture of parts.

  • Blueprint with GD&T reading capabilities.

  • Able to read instrumentation and gauges for measurement purposes.

  • Strong math skills.

  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Able to work under own initiative.

  • Flexible, courteous, friendly and positive approach.

  • Discretion, confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Make a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat and tidy.
