Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Senior Audit Consultant, RAAS . This position reports to the Sr. Manager, RAAS.

Holland America Group operates a combined total of 41 cruise ships with 36,000 employees worldwide. This position will be located in our Santa Clarita office.

Responsibilities

  1. Executes independent reviews and evaluations of operations and activities to assess:
  • The reliability and integrity of internal controls over financial and management reporting, including authorization of transactions and safeguarding of assets

  • Compliance with policies, laws, and regulations which could have significant impact upon operations and processes

  • The effectiveness and efficiency of operations

  1. Adheres to the RAAS departmental policies and procedures, including ensuring consistency and completeness of working paper documentation and compliance with IIA Standards. The scope of assigned reviews/projects includes:
  • Designing/re-assessing the scope and objectives to ensure appropriate audit coverage

  • Reporting on project progress and status, including budget and milestone tracking

  • Identifying deficiencies/issues and opportunities to improve the control environment, and the related impact

  • Concluding on the adequacy of management’s processes and internal controls to mitigate risk

  • Following up and reporting on the implementation status of management’s action plans.

  1. Assist in the Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance program by performing testing of the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting. In addition, provide support to the SOX Coordinator as appropriate.

  2. Develop an effective working relationship with management to ensure RAAS is viewed as a partner for managing risk.

  3. Undertake relevant training, networking and studies as required to ensure continuing professional development.

    Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Accounting or Business

  • A high level of professionalism/independence/confidentiality is a pre-requisite for the role

  • Strong organizational skills are required, with an ability to meet deadlines and to multi-task

  • Effective communication skills are required to interface well with management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Personal initiative, resourcefulness, and professional enthusiasm are important skills for success in this role

  • An effective team member with dedication and service-ethic

    Preferences

  • Professional certification, such as CPA or CIA

  • Experience of both external audit and internal audit

  • Experience performing SOX assessments
