Job Summary:

As part of the YMCA of Greater Seattle’s (YGS) Youth Development Programs Branch and under direction from the Senior Executive Director, the Senior Program Directo, Camps & Enrichment is responsible for providing leadership, development and implementation of day camp, break camp, and enrichment programs. The position is responsible for assisting with the stewardship of relationships with schools and partner organizations. In addition, this role will provide leadership in expansion and development of camp and enrichment strategies and programs that align with and support diverse branch and community needs. This position will work closely with the Senior Executive Director and Youth Development Programs Branch Directors to ensure the consistent implementation of camp and enrichment programs across all of YGS’ sites. This role will champion the development of innovative programming and build community partnerships and collaborative relationships both internally and externally.

Minimum compensation: $68,640- 75,504

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • As part of the Youth Development Center of Excellence, and in partnership with other Centers of Excellence and Operations Units, supports development of organizational strategy and operational workplans for day camp and enrichment programs and services.

  • Oversees the implementation of programming at across all YGS summer day camp and enrichment program locations. We directly supervise and support Outdoor Day Camp leadership staff in summer months.

  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the position so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives.

  • Collaborate with Camping & Outdoor Leadership staff on 3 season programming at Y-operated summer camp location sites.

  • Supports philanthropy efforts by providing data, testimonials, and outcomes reports to facility branches for use in case development and impact reporting. Partner with grants and foundations for funding opportunities and ensuring deliverables to meet funding agreements.

  • Incorporates the YMCA of Greater Seattle Youth Development Theory of Change and program specific logic models in program design and delivery. Tracks related outcome and output data.

  • Supports the branch leadership in developing systems that monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs and services through surveys, focus groups and/or other monitoring methods. Uses compiled program statistics, data, and reports to maintain or make appropriate program and service adjustments and/or recommendations. Follows camping and enrichment trends and program development across the region.

  • Ensures programs are compliant with ACA, DCYF, and other guidelines and laws as applicable. Maintain records and ensures timeliness of applications and renewals for associated paperwork. Contributes to accurate reporting for federal/grant audits.

  • Provides leadership and direction to assigned staff and volunteer team by observing, teaching, modeling, coaching, celebrating, and providing overall direction for performance management. Works collaboratively with Human Resources for support and guidance on performance management.

  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff and volunteers. Conducts staff meetings and organizes training. Ensures each staff member meets ongoing education and professional development requirements.

  • Create insights from data to inform process and improvements to drive a culture consistent with YGS values.

  • Reviews and approves all program plans, including lesson, behavior, and event plans.

  • Manage team’s operating budget, according to YGS budget guidelines.

  • Ensure all federal, state, Y-USA and local reports related to hiring are completed and submitted.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary coursework in Youth Recreation, Outdoor Management, Education, Family Studies, Non-Profit Management or other related discipline required.

  • 3 or more years of progressive leadership experience in developing and implementing successful programs for youth, families, and communities.

  • 3 or more years of camp program development & delivery experience.

  • Proven history of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.

  • Knowledge of American Campaign Association accreditation standards.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in managing multiple departments or program areas.

  • Experience delivering YMCA youth development programs in diverse settings.

  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).

  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
