The Clinical Research Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for developing consistent, reliable data processes supporting accurate reporting and analytics for a wide range of CRS functions, including: clinical quality assurance, study enrollment, study feasibility and startup, grant renewals, process improvements, ad hoc requests, and other related tasks. The incumbent will participate in the creation of automated processes, data repositories, reporting, and analyses across multiple systems and data sources using a variety of tools, including Microsoft Excel and Access, SharePoint, SQL Server. The Clinical Business Intelligence Analyst will carry out these responsibilities by working both independently, and while collaborating closely with FHCRC staff and Cancer Consortium partners at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Seattle Children’s, and the University of Washington. The position will report directly to the Data & Reporting Manager.

  • Creates dynamic dashboards and schedules automated reports using tools such as WebFocus, SQL Server Reporting Services, SharePoint, and others.

  • Translates business requirements into specific software requirements.

  • Manages and streamlines the pipeline of incoming ad-hoc report requests; automates existing intake and delivery processes where appropriate.

  • Develops and prepares scheduled and ad hoc reports from large datasets; presents data in formats for various endusers including executive level audiences.

  • Provides context to BI outputs by performing basic analysis of trends over time.

  • Communicates with external clients and internal teams to deliver GUI screen designs.

  • QCs reports and coordinates quality control evaluations to ensure reporting requirements of various stakeholders are met.

  • Identifies and reports data discrepancies.

  • Maintains lists of software enhancement requests and issue logs.

  • Identify new ways to use SharePoint to au internal processes and reports more automated and more efficient.

  • Identifies ways technical solutions can support departmental projects, reports and operations.

  • Assist users in leveraging Enterprise Features, eg: Excel Services, and liaise with IT Department.

  • Create, leverage and manage content types, site columns, lookups and templates for re-use in sites.

  • Provide first line of day to day support for internal department SharePoint users.

Experience and Abilities:

  • 3+ years of data analysis and reporting experience in a research setting.

  • 2+ years of SharePoint power user experience.

  • Excel power user experience.

  • Experience using tools such as Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, WebFocus, or other enterprise BI platform preferred.

  • Project management training and experience preferred.

  • Ability working in SQL Server and MS Access databases.

  • Proficiency performing complex queries in Microsoft Access.

  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT related discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
