Nordstrom Communication Specialist - Portfolio & Process Ops-Tech Business Operations in Seattle, Washington

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is vital to the technology organization and will design and deploy communication to support the rhythm of our business.

In this role, you are responsible for driving and managing key messaging and cultural enablers for the technology organization, as well as tracking business and technology updates to align with our overall strategy and vision. You will monitor our communication progress from initiation through delivery, support leadership to cascade key messages, and influence adoption of established communication and collaboration channels.

The ideal communication specialist is motivated, result-oriented, and committed to providing outstanding customer service both internally and externally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and innovate on a sustainable communication process for the organization

  • Solicit, edit, and create content (relevant and timely news, announcements, and event coverage) in alignment with the communication plan

  • Create messaging and coordinate communication for the leadership team in collaboration with on-team strategy

  • Engage stakeholders and manage expectations while making decisions and delivering recommendations to all levels of leaders

  • Combine full understanding of concepts, theories, and principles, with business insights

  • Integrate and apply elements of other disciplines to solve problems

  • Work independently on whole projects and problems

  • Determine root cause and resolve moderately complex problems. Know when to escalate issues/changes

  • Identify trends that warrant immediate attention

  • Provide clear and concise status to leadership teams

  • Facilitate team progress in choosing pragmatic solutions and making effective business decisions

  • Coach and mentor others on project teams

  • Collaborate with rest of communications team on consistent messaging and strategy for entire technology organization

  • Create external facing content and messages to assist organization in outreach and recruitment

This position may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or marketing

  • Internal company communications experience (2 years)

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism or related experience with writing/editing emphasis

  • Previous experience working in a technology environment

  • Strong evidence of content organization, message flow, grammar, proofreading, and editing (written assignment will be required)

  • Advanced organization and time management skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers and business divisions across the company

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Project management experience

  • Event production and facilitation

  • Familiarity with Graphic Design and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Knowledge of SharePoint

  • Lean/ Kaizen mindset
