Google AI Principles Review Specialist, Health Applications in Seattle, Washington

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, Health Policy, Bioethics, or Ethics, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in technology, ethics, or policy.

  • Experience contributing to efforts in health ethics, applied ethics, or moral philosophy.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a discipline related to health ethics (e.g., Philosophy, Public Health, Health Policy, Bioethics).

  • Experience teaching health ethics or ethics.

  • Experience with societal and/or civic issues for social good.

  • Knowledge of ethics and socio-technical considerations of technology and the future of AI.

  • Knowledge of the key policy issues at the intersection of technology and health.

  • Ability or thought leadership in assessing impacts and adverse effects of technology on users or communities.

As an AI Principles Review Specialist, you will assess AI applications against our AI Principles (https://ai.google/principles/) to ensure advanced technologies we develop and deploy are aligned with Google’s values. In this role, you will work with and for teams and Googlers across the company to help them assess the benefits and risks of their technology and to think holistically and ethically about the decisions they make in the product development process.

You will support the development of Google's AI products by consulting product development teams on their projects, particularly those that have applications in health and wellness. You will be part of a highly-motivated, collaborative team, working with teams across the company to explore and better understand how products impact users and broader society, documenting guidance, and problem-solving with data.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $108,000-$158,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Perform AI Principles case reviews with an emphasis on health applications, many of which are high impact and complex.

  • Work closely with researchers, clinicians, product teams, engineers, and program managers to identify and develop creative solutions to ethical challenges that arise in research and product development.

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate bioethics and research ethics educational programs as needed.

  • Provide a holistic perspective to product teams, independent of any immediate business or engineering impact.

  • Build awareness of the AI Principles and strengthen our culture around thoughtful consideration of ethical issues in our day-to-day work.
