Summary of Duties:
Under general supervision, the SNAP-Ed Extension Coordinator Supervisor oversees the coordination, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the King County SNAP-Ed program. This includes supervising and managing staff to implement a culturally sensitive nutrition education program that combines direct education with policy, system and environmental (PSE) change initiatives relating to healthy eating and active living models among the limited-resource population in King County. Additional duties include building and maintaining partnership collaborations in the community.
SNAP-Ed includes any combination of educational strategies, accompanied by environmental supports, designed to facilitate voluntary adoption of food and physical activity choices and other nutrition-related behaviors conducive to the health and well-being of SNAP participants and low-income individuals eligible to participate in SNAP and other means-tested Federal assistance programs. SNAP-Ed interventions are delivered through multiple venues and involve activities at the individual, community, and appropriate policy levels.
The SNAP-Ed Extension Coordinator Supervisor works closely with the SNAP-Ed state staff, other WSU Extension staff and faculty, the SNAP-Ed Implementing Agency, and community partners to ensure activities meet the requirements of the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Guidance for SNAP-Ed (https://snap.nal.usda.gov/snap/Guidance/FinalFY2016SNAP-%20EdGuidance.pdf).
This is a temporary position expected to end on September 30, 2024. Renewal is dependent on satisfactory performance and annual background check, the need for Extension to complete the project and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience, which has included supervisory-level experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within targeted counties.
• While using a private or WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020 and https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090).
• Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
• Employment is contingent upon passing an annual background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Public Health, Nutrition or other relevant field.
