Universal Windows Platform (known as UWP) is the primary and future focus of Microsoft for any developer wanting to build for the entire ecosystem, and wanting to incorporate modern features such as Windows Hello, Inking, and distribution through the Windows Store. Whether it’s building an app or game for Windows, Xbox, or Mixed Reality, UWP gives developers the ability to easily create solutions through multiple technology and language choices, and through it all, developers will build on Windows 10.

Windows Developer Marketing is looking for someone to develop and drive developer marketing strategies built on a deep understanding of our business, our product, and the developer audience that we serve. In this role, you will partner across a number of groups (engineering, marketing, PR and Windows) to build a vibrant ecosystem of Windows 10 apps.

You’ll need a strong technical acumen, great communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. We need you to work closely with the Windows engineering team on prioritizing scenarios and requirements, and we also need you to work closely with the team’s marketers to tell the stories that bring our products to life with the developer community. You’ll also help us attach developer marketing with the Microsoft Graph story, and assist in bootstrapping our mixed reality story with other groups within Microsoft.

Your day-to-day will focus on three aspects:

• Crafting the UWP narrative: Using your understanding of developer needs and the Windows platform, you’ll craft the story we go to market with, and the principal features in that story.

• Growing the UWP ecosystem: You’ll help define the strategy and value proposition for new platform capabilities, and work with our marketers to create marketing campaigns.

• Engaging our community: You’ll be the face of Windows with our consumer developer community, informally via our MVP community, at small community events, and at the larger, Windows sponsored events.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Owner/operator mentality

  • Track record of influencing strategy at multiple levels, inside and outside the company

  • 3+ years of development experience, preferably with knowledge of modern Windows programming concepts

  • 4+ years of product management or product marketing experience

  • BS in a technical field, preferably computer science, or equivalent experience

  • Understanding of Windows technology and products

  • A business degree is a total bonus, but not required.
