Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The JavaScript runtime team, Chakra, is looking for a developer to help us in our mission to strengthen Node.js in the industry. Node.js is the one of the fastest growing technologies for application development. Today the Chakra team is engaged with the Node community in a wide range of ways, from our work to plug the ChakraCore engine into Node.js, to our work supporting Node.js on Windows, and we want to increase this engagement. We will work closely with the Node.js technical leadership to help shape its future direction, and make the technology great on Windows and Azure.

All of this development happens in the open, and your work will have significant impact on this world-wide community. There is a broad set of problems to be solved, ranging from improved diagnostics for developers to hand-inspecting instructions to squeeze out the maximum performance, to increasing Node reliability.

The Chakra team has a legacy of pushing the envelope when it comes to JavaScript, and now we look forward to bringing that same passion for Node.js. We need the right individual to help us deliver on our goals. To join our team, you’ll need to be able to write high-performance C++ code. You’ll need to have an interest in participating in and shaping public technical debate. Node.js experience is a huge plus, and experience with performance analysis and tuning, runtime internals, and API design are also selling points. You will be required to pass Microsoft background checks prior to the start of employment and periodically thereafter. Further details regarding this process will be provided in follow up correspondence.

Basic Qualification:

• 2+ years C++

Preferred Qualification:

• 1+ years Node
