Microsoft Corporation Senior Technical Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Microsoft Azure Compute PM team drives horizontal customer experiences across Azure Compute Services. We are focused on producing modern solutions in areas of performance, reliability and overall deterministic Compute experience driving customer satisfaction and providing a dependable environment for Mission Critical applications on Azure. We combine globe-scale platform big-data foundation with AI (Artificial Intelligence)/ML (Machine Learning) techniques, distributed systems solutions and deep system acumen to drive innovation that allows us to define and operate our datacenters beyond what was possible in the past with traditional techniques.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to be part of a team that will manage division-wide initiatives encompassing the Azure Host and Azure Host Components management, optimizing for Azure application lifecycle, availability, reliability, and scale. The role will be central to key division wide initiatives on customer experience and platform competitiveness, and you’ll drive some of the areas in a services platform with scale and availability targets that don’t exist in the industry today. To succeed in this role, you should be passionate about Compute space, possess technical and analytical skills, terrific cross-group collaboration skills, and a passion for customers. You should have a track record of delivery in a services environment. Finally, we’re looking for team players with a can-do approach.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers and partner teams to identify scenarios and establish priorities.

  • Lead product planning areas for end-to-end scenarios based on customer inputs and data insights.

  • Define Objectives and Key Results and establish and execute on plans for improving KRs.

  • Partner with the development teams on scenarios, product tradeoffs, incremental value delivery.

  • Create win-win engagements with partners across Azure and Microsoft to drive customer value.

  • Prepare and deliver high quality executive reviews.

  • Present to customers; use customer and partner feedback to continuously improve the product.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis,

  • OR product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience working on distributed systems software.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
