The CO+I Critical Environment Systems Intelligence (CESI) team is responsible for designing and delivering solutions to support global datacenter operations and to improve availability. CESI is helping to drive CO+I’s transition to a customer centric, data driven, live service culture. As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will be a key player in this transition.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager on the CO+I Critical Environment Service Intelligence (CESI) team, you will be responsible for delivering a data driven solution to map out the mechanical and electrical area of impact (commonly referred to as Blast or Impact Radius) for critical environment (CE) and related IT resources in Microsoft Datacenters. You will partner with multiple CO+I teams to develop and deliver this solution. A successful candidate for this role will leverage their knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and their passion for data to ensure we have a strong understanding of both the clear and unclear interactions between critical environment and IT infrastructure systems, enabling reliable, efficient, and effective data center operations.

  • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 50%

Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will:

  • Deliver a data driven solution to map out the direct relationships and interactions between critical environment (CE) equipment and IT infrastructure, including how the power distribution, cooling, and environmental conditions directly impact IT availability from a CE perspective. In addition to the direct you will need to map out indirect or fuzzy relationships, such as the complex interactions between environmental factors and CE performance, variations in building designs, and diverging naming and infrastructure standards across the fleet.

  • Partner with Software, Hardware, and Datacenter Engineering to design complex technical solutions across feature areas. You’ll also give key stakeholders data-driven recommendations based on identified risks.

  • Define success criteria and create relationships for implementing multiple feature areas for highly complex cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across the business.

  • Deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups across divisions, track project schedules, drive development of staging and implementation plans, and lead governance programs.

  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch. You’ll also provide experience needed for departments to collect performance metrics, lead customer support, and define and lead direct customer engagements.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years’ experience in engineering (ME, EE, PE, Systems Engineering), technical program management or data analysis

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 2+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Practical experience with reading blueprints, one-line drawings, and mapping complex dependencies.

  • 4+ years of experience demonstrating the ability to build relationships and influence in a matrixed organization.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in program management, preferably in technology, aerospace, petroleum, datacenter or similar environments.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos, business intelligence or visualization tools, systems modeling, etc).

  • Understanding of Data schemas and how to map relationships across systems.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • A self-starter attitude, and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.

  • Diverse experiences and perspectives, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
