Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. The Network Infrastructure Deployment (NID) team delivers the hyper-scale, low-latency, high-reliability network connecting customers around the globe to the rapidly growing Microsoft Cloud. As part of the Cloud and Enterprise organization, we support the needs of more than 200 Microsoft online services, including Bing, Office 365, SharePoint, Skype, OneDrive and several hundred thousand customers using Azure to host and run their Cloud Services in over 100 datacenters, running millions of servers and edge computing nodes all over the world. As the Senior Technical Program Manager for network infrastructure deployments covering Europe and Asia regions, you will be able to develop and execute strategies to deliver Cloud network infrastructure along with the related technologies to support data center capacity demands at scale in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Applying a system thinking approach, you will need to understand the product/program lifecycle process, apply technical insights and deep knowledge of constraints along the deployment execution process and across ecosystem teams to drive network deployments that ensure predictable delivery of capacity to end customers on time. You are part of a global team where you plan, lead, and coordinate with global stakeholders and external suppliers to deploy greenfield and brownfield network infrastructure sites.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibility is tracking daily progress against the production deployment schedule, working across time zones, with logistics, supply, engineering, and data center teams in execution of the baseline schedule.

  • Support network deployment activities for PMs in the Europe and Asia regions and reporting on progress to schedule.

  • Develop a deep understanding of Microsoft’s Azure network deployment process, from planning through execution.

  • Understands the region’s deployment health with the Regional Point of Contact (RPoC) and other driving factors to help prioritize the network delivery schedule.

  • Drive continuous improvement of deployment processes, including assessment of program delivery capabilities, gathering, and leveraging performance data/metrics, establishing corresponding targets, and measurement of on-going deployment progress.

  • Make data-driven decisions and align with key stakeholders in terms of data-driven solutions to scheduling and other project delivery conflicts.

  • Utilize enhanced tooling, reports, and dashboards to drive daily and weekly triage of blockers in the system as well as predictive indicators for demand to be on track.

  • Develop and drive strategies to manage deployment demand through the workflow management system in alignment with organizational goals related to throughput and cycle time.

  • Enable and support workflow orchestration and integration efforts, whilst enabling systemic automation along with effective data management.

  • Coordinate with RPoC and NID leadership teams to improve scalable deployment activities and related execution performance.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Experience in managing project teams in remote regions such as Europe and Asia with different timezones.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in technical strategy or operations management in a cloud-based technology business or similar industry.

  • Expertise in management of high-performance, highly available, large scale distributed network and related technologies, preferably in tier one cloud provider datacenters

  • Knowledge of supply chain management, procurement processes, trade restrictions and associated financial and project controls.

  • Well versed in program management methodologies, approaches, and tools with a PMP/Six Sigma certification.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
