Objective of Position:

As part of the Retail Real Estate and Facilities team, this role is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all retail store design activity. This position has responsibility for partnering directly with clients within the retail organization to deliver design solutions that meet the established quality standards and support the retail team’s goal of providing customers with a world-class experience in this mobile-first, cloud-first world. This role is accountable for ensuring that new store design and instore projects are designed in a manner consistent with our retail brand standards. Staying current on leading design practices and trends in the Retail market, and effectively importing insight to inform an effective design strategy is key. Strong financial acumen, relationship management and executive facing communication skills to work across client, vendor, partner, executive and RE&F communities with excellence is required.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the day-to-day delivery of design projects for the Retail Store portfolio and manage business operations within budget.

  2. Oversee all Retail research and development activity including the development of mockups for new concepts, new fixtures and experiences.

  3. Work with project teams to intake and prioritize project requests ensuring alignment with business goals and drivers.

  4. Exercise judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse project workload in a fast pace environment .

  5. Execute design strategies in accordance with brand guidelines and established design principals.

  6. Set design schedules with alignment from cross-functional teams. Communicates dates to design team and meets all established deadlines.

  7. Drive the architectural design process by assessing the scope in conjunction with retail teams.

  8. Drive budget planning, tracking, and forecasting for the design projects, mockups, R&D projects.

  9. Ensure completed projects meet brand and quality expectations. Perform site visits as required.

  10. Drive innovative initiatives for emerging technologies that showcase Microsoft products in the design process.

  11. Demonstrate an understanding of store priorities and terminology.

Qualifications

Professional/Personal Skill Requirements

1.The successful candidate must have the following skill set:

Must be able to balance business needs and project constraints with high standards, design quality and brand expectation.

Knowledge of current industry trends in retail store design.

Strong Financial acumen including budgeting and forecasting.

Ability to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional store environments

Maintain accurate and consistent electronic files and documentation

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

A proven ability to influence and collaborate across groups and build virtual teams.

Strong individual accountability and execution

Must have 3 or more years of direct experience.

Must have a Bachelors Degree.
