Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure Finance (MCI Finance) is an exciting and fast evolving finance team within Microsoft Finance at the forefront of our Mobile First, Cloud First strategy. The team has a charter to:

  • Build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity

  • Expand Cloud Services Profitability through focus on Gross Margin

  • Support Long Term bets, & drive Competitive Intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition

The team has an opening for an experienced FP&A leader to provide thought leadership, business and financial expertise to move the Cloud Business Insights forward. The focus is around Azure, C+E SaaS, and Dynamics gross margins.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead a high performance FP&A team while shaping thinking around future needs of the business

  • Partner with the engineering teams towards determining human resource needs to enable cloud growth.

  • Lead an effective month end close process, quarterly forecast, insightful CFO reviews, annual budgeting & target setting process with clear, insightful financial commentary (yr/yr, trends, vs. market) to articulate business performance

  • Break the overall Azure P&L into workloads in order to drive insights, levers and accountability towards steady state gross margins.

  • Own the numbers, provide an independent point of view on forecast to improve forecast accuracy, early warnings on business performance against goals.

  • Define, track & report KPIs for the business

  • Automation: Collaborate with MCI Finance stakeholders on end-to-end reporting solutions via automation to enable greater productivity, simplification and enhanced cost transparency.

  • Grow the talent of the MCI Finance organization and prepare individuals for larger, high-impact jobs

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Finance experience, including significant, senior-level leadership roles

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or engineering, MBA preferred

  • People management experience with demonstrated cross-group leadership

  • Strong conceptual understanding and ability to articulate application of financial principles to this business space

  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management

  • Must be extremely collaborative and comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organizations, creating effective internal business partnerships

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively translate financial analysis and insights into meaningful and actionable business communications and recommendations

  • Outstanding written & verbal communication skills and experience presenting to executives
