Summary of Duties
Conduct rigorous and original technical research. Publish high quality, peer-reviewed papers. Participate in developing and drafting innovative proposals. Collaborate closely with graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.
The Concrete Material Characterization Laboratory (CMCL) at the Civil & Environmental Engineering directed by Dr. Somayeh Nassiri seeks exceptional candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Associate focusing on concrete materials and concrete pavements. For 2017 and 2018, research heavily focuses on improving the durability and strength of pervious concrete, added strength and flexibility to concrete by the use of recycled materials, durability of highway concrete against deicer chemicals, porosity evaluation via sensing technology, and drying shrinkage. CMCL is located in the gold LEED certified new PACCAR clean tech building on Washington State University (WSU)’s campus in Pullman, WA. CMCL is a new lab furbished with a full series of mixing, curing, and testing facilities.

PhD at the time of hire in a relevant discipline including but not limited to concrete materials, concrete pavements and other relevant areas of civil or mechanical engineering, demonstrated track record of creative productive research and ability to work in a dynamic and diverse group of graduate and undergraduate students.
Background in concrete pavement design.

The position start date is flexible and can be filled immediately. The position is a temporary, 12-month, full-time position. Initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed dependent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.
