Job Summary: Works with the surgical team to deliver patient care during surgery. Essential Job Functions: 1.?Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure as outlined in the policy and procedure manual. 2.?Demonstrates close attention to detail regarding aseptic technique at all times. 3.?Performs all counts as defined in the OR policies and procedures measured by documentation on the OR record. 4.?Maintains an orderly and sterile instrument table and/or Mayo stand. 5.?Consistently passes necessary instruments to surgeon and surgical assistant(s). 6.?Remains and demonstrate an ability to handle unexpected situations with calm efficiency. 7.?Handles medications on the sterile field under the direct observation of a registered nurse. 8.?Handles records, labels, and specimens according to established policy and procedure. 9.?Accountable for following the guidelines for attendance, punctuality and overall dependability. Accountable for effective performance and follow-through of all assigned responsibilities and for completing responsibilities within designated (or agreed upon) timeframes. Completes responsibilities in a manner consistent with organizational policy, goals and values. 10.?Responsible for the "Accountabilities" associated with this position in support of the organization. 11.?Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies: •?Must utilize one or more Cerner applications to deliver and track patient care. •?Must have necessary knowledge and training to care for the specific age group under his or her care. •?Must have oral and written language skills, visual and aural skills in order to communicate, ensure and deliver safe patient care and to provide a legal record of this care. •?Must have the ability to be self-directed within his/her Scope of Practice. •?Must be accountable for practice, commitment to patient care, and commitment to uphold the Patient Bill of Rights. License, Certification, Education or Experience: REQUIRED for the position: High School graduate or equivalent Must be registered as a Surgical Technologist within the State of Washington. Must obtain NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) Certification within six (6) months of hire Must have Healthcare Provider CPR certification within six (6) months of hire. DESIRED for the position: 2 years of Surgical Tech experience *This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth and the?UFCW which contains a "union security" provision.? This means that, as a condition of employment, you must join the union and pay union dues and any required fees within 30 days of your date of hire.
