Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Advanced Monorepo Management: Lead the strategic planning and execution of monorepo enhancements, focusing on performance, scalability, and developer experience to support global engineering needs.

Guidelines and Standardization Leadership: Craft, advocate for, and enforce advanced guidelines and standards for software development practices within the monorepo. Ensure these practices promote code quality, efficient workflows, and a unified engineering culture.

Technical Mentorship: Serve as a technical mentor to engineers, sharing knowledge on best practices, tools, and technologies to optimize their work within the monorepo environment.

Engineering Excellence: Drive initiatives to elevate software integrity through sophisticated testing frameworks, rigorous code review processes, and robust quality assurance practices.

Innovative Release Management: Architect and refine complex CI/CD pipelines and release management processes that ensure smooth, reliable deployments to production.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional initiatives, working closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to align monorepo strategies with organizational goals.

Continuous Improvement: Identify, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge technologies and methodologies that can improve the scalability and efficiency of the monorepo and enhance the overall productivity of the engineering organization.

Problem Solving: Tackle complex challenges related to monorepo management, serving as a go-to expert for resolving high-impact issues affecting software development and release processes.

About Team: E-commerce Platform

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. A brand new app experience, monorepo built from scratch, using the best ideas around modern architecture and engineering best practices. Our efforts let our customers "Save Money. Live Better." You will be a key member of the Platform Web team which owns responsibility for engineering tools and process, and features that affect the entire website. We think it's the most important thing to get right for our 265 million customers.

What you'll do:

  • Designing and delivering code that's readable, maintainable, testable, scalable, reusable, and efficient

  • Working in an Agile team with engineers, designers, and product managers to solve problems as part of a team

  • Thinking from the customer's perspective to recommend design improvements

  • Collaborating with backend teams to design effective and understandable APIs

  • Following established architecture patterns and suggesting improvements

  • Implementing new features according to specifications

  • Participating in code reviews for yourself and others

  • Investigating and fixing bugs

  • Building unit and UI tests

  • Learning and implementing the latest technologies

  • Mentoring fellow engineers

  • (On-call rotations during daytime hours to help our Support team solve problems for customers)

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer

  • Intermediate understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as Design Patterns, Graph algorithms, and basic statistical analysis.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Node.js fundamentals, JavaScript/TypeScript

  • Intermediate level of experience on operating system fundamentals such as process management, ulimit, and memory management

  • Expert level of understanding and usage of git and similar DVCS

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering projects independently in all aspects of coding, testing, troubleshooting and devOps administration.

  • Plan, implement, maintain, and lead technical projects

  • Caching, logging, performance tuning, monitoring, and scaling

  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle

  • Experience using GitHub

  • Unit testing best practices and patterns

  • CI/CD systems such as TeamCity or Jenkins

  • Comfortable working in a distributed team and communicating asynchronously

  • Communicate in spoken and written English

Bellevue, Washington US-11075:The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00-$264,000.00

SUNNYVALE, California US-04396:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
