We in the WA office of Randstad Technologies & Embedded Engineering are looking for a Senior SDET for one of our clients in the greater Seattle metropolitan area. The following is a comprehensive list of responsibilities, requirements and "preferred / nice to have", but one needn't match all of these points perfectly:


  • Design, deliver and own a test automation framework from concept to code review

  • Work with technical and design teams who include QA very early in the requirements and development life cycle

  • Design, develop, enhance and maintain an automated suite of performance, build verification (BVTs) and regression tests to exercise and measure the functionality and performance of a next-generation IoT product

  • Design, create and deliver test frameworks utilizing C#, JUnit, RESTEasy, Python and Selenium, to measure scalability and performance of the product

  • Develop and maintain test automation, to exercise and validate feature sets and platform functionality, including data transforms, device-server communication, rule engine and business process management (BPM) features, end-to-end use case scenarios, and UI implementations

  • Collaborate with Product Management, UI designers, developers, architects, data scientists and fellow QA team members, to deliver a test coverage strategy across unit tests, API tests, UI automation and manual tests

  • Review and groom user stories, functional requirements, manual test cases and bug reports, as input requirements to enhance and maintain test automation suites to keep pace with new functionality and bug fixes

  • Provide guidance and training to offshore and manual testers, to run, enhance, maintain and contribute to the automated test suites that you deliver

  • Contribute to the architecture and design of the system, to ensure testability

  • Always be focusing on the best interests of the customer


  • BS degree in engineering or a technical discipline, or comparable and substantial-seeming experience otherwise

  • 7+ years of QA engineering experience, in enterprise software products within a technology company

  • Experience with connected devices, sensors, REST APIs and coding development

  • Proficiency in automation QA process for Agile and DevOps software teams

  • Hands-on experience at planning, programming, executing and maintaining automated tests

  • Deep understanding of QA techniques and methodologies for embedded system and IoT technologies

  • Demonstrated strengths in release management and delivering software to customers

  • Experience with continuous integration tooling such as Jenkins

  • Experience with Agile defect tracking and test-case management tools such as Jira or Zephyr

  • Experience with virtualization/cloud computing

  • Experience creating test frameworks and automating tests utilizing C#, JUnit, RESTEasy and Selenium

  • Familiar with cloud infrastructure and APIs, plus ability to develop test code to test the interactions between IoT devices & cloud

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Successful in working as a collaborative team player, with proven organizational skills, plus enjoys a team environment

Preferred / Nice to have

  • AWS or Azure experience

  • Previous software development experience
