Job Description:

We are seeking an exceptional software design engineer within an awesome IT department to bring his/her skills to designing and building a highly scalable, reliable, and robust IT enterprise application and infrastructure ecosystem. The position offers the opportunity to work with many cutting-edge technologies and world-class enterprise systems within a rapidly evolving environment. The candidate should be passionate about technology, collaboration, and customer service.

The Application Integration Engineer, Senior, will be responsible designing and implementing solutions which integrate key Concur business systems and drive new capabilities for Concur’s growing business. This is a senior role requiring deep programming experience and programming methodology expertise, data and database integration experience, and assisting in problem diagnosis, recommendations and resolution. While partnering with multiple IT delivery teams, it will be critical for this individual to be able to communicate effectively, understand and map business processes and system impacts, prepare and present application solution design’s, and perform problem discovery in a complex application environment.

You will deliver:

  • New integrations as part of a broad migration to SAP enterprise systems.

  • Own the design and implementation of new SOA / ETL / ESB integrations

  • Assist in developing test frameworks to ensure a robust implementation

  • Provide documentation for support and training

Position Requirements


  • Develop specialized software to solve business problems and automate/optimize business processes.

  • Troubleshoot, modify, and maintain existing code within enterprise applications and databases.

  • Own the delivery and support of components within specific applications, and serve as a technical lead on small to midsize complex projects.

  • Design communication interfaces and system integrations using web services and other protocols between enterprise applications using SOA best practices.

  • Assist with database schema design and query optimization as necessary per project and application.

  • Manage and maintain development and test application stacks from OS to web server to web page.

  • Participate in code reviews and pair programming to validate effectiveness and quality of code.

  • Develop unit tests using technologies like: JUnit, EasyMock, DBUnit, PHPUnit, Hudson, and Selenium.

  • Publish documentation and collaborative information within internal tools

  • Work closely with application stakeholders, system architects and other technical resources to create best technical design and roadmap for new applications and integrations.

  • Provide feedback and good estimates on project timelines and feasibility.

  • Serve as mentor to less-experienced engineers.

  • Organize and lead internal training sessions in specified application or technical area.

  • Serve as resource between departments to consult on detailed technical system information.

  • Assist in allocation of workload, and may be required to manage subcontracting firms as called upon.

  • May serve as technical lead for new IT projects.

  • Mentors team members in best practices and reviews other ETL designs and implementations

  • Properly addresses and balances long-term needs with near-term project iteration requirements and timing.

Position Requirements:

Job Specific Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

The ideal candidate will exhibit a relentless determination to solve difficult problems, is a great communicator, and very technically savvy across a myriad of software development technologies including, but not limited to:

  • Deep experience developing and testing REST and SOAP web services

  • Experience with ETL tools including WSO2/ESB, SSIS, Boomi

  • Senior level developer using Java and/or .Net languages and tools

  • Experience configuring web servers and firewall including Apache, Tomcat, and IIS

  • Administration and development experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases

  • Experience deploying production software and using source control

  • While integration and development is key, the core business system foundations include MetraNet, CRM, Oracle Financials, and SAP ERP/CRM. Development and integration experience in these technologies is a plus.

  • Advanced knowledge of object oriented software design, unit testing and Agile development process.

  • Solid understanding of security concepts, principles and practices

  • Ability to provide performance tuning analysis for development groups

  • Experience with full development lifecycle

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to perform after hours, shift work, and be on call via pager during designated periods

  • Experience supporting a production environment preferred

Education Experience & Training Required:

  • BSCS, BSEE, or equivalent years of work experience

  • 5+ years of experience Java/Spring Framework programming.

  • 5+ years of experience working with Web Services.

  • 5+ years of experience of hands-on work designing and implementing data integration solutions for OLTP and data warehouse systems using SSIS

  • 3+ years of experience in database development

  • Demonstrable understanding of the utilization of data for management reporting, business intelligence, and predictive data analytics purposes.
